Buddha's Light International Association Houston Chapter's Annual Gathering February 23rd, 2008

　

Saturday, BLIA Houston held their Annual Gathering event at Chung Mei Buddhist Temple. The gathering featured different performances, contents, and highlighted different cultures, which matches Grand Master Hsing Yun's theme for 2008 "Harmonious Conditions In All".

Performances included: Chinese Acrobatic Dancing, Gu Zheng/Pi Pa, Cello & Piano Duet, Jazz Music, a Hip Hop Dance performance, Trumpet/Trombone/Piano Quatet, Tai Chi demonstration, Bamboo Sword, KongGa Drum solo, The Norwegian Children's Choir and American speak Chinese etc. Throughout the event, Raffle ticket/prize drawings and a silent auction gave the audience excitement and many surprises.
    The audience also got to witness a very special event – Two Buddhist Weddings. The first couple to exchange vows was Mr. Pao Chao Hwang and Miss Pei Shu Hwang, who is the member from BLIA Dallas and preformed as secretary of the BLIA Fort Worth Branch. The second couple was Mr. Eddie Wong and Miss Wan Ching Chen.

Miss Chen currently is President of BLIA YAD Boston. The ceremony was officiated by Ven. Abbess Yung Chuan as Witnessing Master. Mr. Cecil Willis (Council Member from the City of Stafford), Mr. and Mrs Liang Deputy President of BLIA Houston, and Mr. and Mrs. Chang Board of Directors of BLIA Houston performed as the grooms' and brides' family representatives. This wedding ceremony was the highlight of the event and gave the annual gathering a wonderful sense of new beginnings for the New Year.
