中文Chinese Class

Chinese characters are not only the world’s most beautiful written script; they also have logical structures. Merely by looking at their forms, we know the pronunciation and the meaning of many characters.

According to the tradition, Chinese characters were invented by Tsang Jie, who was a minister during the Yellow Emperor’s reign. After observing the sun, the moon, and other phenomenon of nature, he drew pictures of their forms. These forms eventually became the components of our writing system. Over time, they gradually evolved into Chinese characters we know today.

Some Chinese characters are formed by combining segments that represent pronunciation and other segment that represent meaning. Sometimes two characters with different meanings are united to form a new word. The composition of Chinese characters is based on a set of fixed principles. Studying them is not only a profound experience, but fascinating as well.
